My two favorite genres.
As you enter the world of Miniature, words like charming, endearing, amazing, and magical come to mind. I would like to share with you the works I’ve painted “in the little”, as well as the history behind the art form and a bit of how-to.
As you browse through my portraits, you will see that I do more than paint faces. I go deeper, telling the subject’s story. The method I use is a hybrid grown from artists whose work I admire. They are Richard Schmid, Burton Silverman and William Adolfe Bouguereau. I see things in their work that are absent from many portraits, and it is those “things” that I strive to show in my work. If you find yourself compelled to stand before a portrait, not wanting to take your eyes off it, you might understand what I mean. And maybe, it will be a portrait I painted.
Before you move into the pages of this site, I want to acknowledge my greatest help and critic, Joshua Miller. Brutally honest, lovingly motivating, my son...thank you, Josh!
